II Virada no Espaço traz curtas de Alexandre Guena pela primeira vez na telona
Música e cinema são duas coisas intimamente ligadas na vida do cineasta baiano Alexandre Guena, também conhecido como Xanxa. Seu nome pode ser associado ao material audiovisual de artistas como Pitty, Retrofoguetes e os extintos Dead Billies. Não é à toa que ele guarda em casa duas estatuetas da MTV. Partindo dessa combinação poderosa e aglutinadora, no dia 11/12, uma sexta-feira, o Espaço Unibanco Glauber Rocha abre suas portas para a exibição dos mais recentes curtas de ficção desse jovem diretor. A II Virada no Espaço acontece em clima de celebração indie, o evento abre o final de semana reunindo alguns dos mais destacados nomes do cenário musical independente de Salvador, incluindo também a equipe dos filmes para um bate-papo com o público. A festa começa às 21h com um lounge e promete se estender por uma madrugada rock. Os ingressos custam R$ 5.
O programa da noite, idealizada em parceria com Claudio Marques, responsável pelo Espaço Unibanco em Salvador, traz seis filmes curtos realizados ao longo desse ano por Guena e sua equipe, auto-intitulados The Sadistics - nome que surgiu a partir do título do primeiro deles, Sadistic. Além deste, serão exibidos Politic; Superstar; Screen test by sadistics; Silent star; Waltervile e mais um bônus que será anunciado durante o evento. A exibição dos filmes será acompanhada de um bate-papo com o diretor, os atores Emanuela Campos e Paolo Fraga e equipe técnico-artística dos curtas, que falam de seu processo criativo, bastidores das gravações e, claro, sua relação com a música. Após o lançamento cinematográfico, a festa segue com shows e discotecagem, ocupando o belo e versátil espaço cultural com figuras, sons e personagens de uma Salvador urbana e contemporânea, que se despede de 2009 e já aponta outros caminhos para 2010.

Alexandre Guena, Emanuela Campos e Paolo Fraga por David CampbellPara Alexandre Guena, esses trabalhos representam um momento de grande felicidade em sua carreira, graças ao envolvimento visceral da equipe, que resultou em curtas de teor anárquico e irônico, em que a música também surge como criadora de sentido. “Tudo ali é muito verdadeiro, partimos de uma ideia, mas muitas coisas são inventadas no clima do set com muita liberdade”, diz. Seus filmes têm chamado a atenção da comunidade internacional de profissionais do audiovisual reunida no site Filmaka.com, o que também lhe rendeu uma citação no Facebook da banda Sonic Youth.
Reafirmando que a realização dos filmes é uma criação coletiva, Guena faz questão de ressaltar a importância do carisma e da entrega de seus atores. “Eles são as estrelas, os filmes foram feitos por causa deles e de como eles reagiam à câmera. Eles têm muita confiança no trabalho que estamos fazendo juntos, por isso se dispõe a ousar e trazer à tona aqueles personagens”, explica.
Os atores, que encararam pela primeira vez o desafio de atuar, também reiteram a ideia de retroalimentação, afirmando a influência das referências estéticas trazidas por Xanxa e que o espírito de respeito e admiração mútuos deram a tônica de todo o processo. Para Emanuela Campos, é dificil dizer de onde tirou a inspiração para suas personagens, mas as referências passam por Assassinos por natureza, Encontros e desencontros e até Mariyn Monroe. Ela estava em Buenos Aires quando foi convidada para fazer o primeiro filme - “achei que era uma boa chance de fazer um trabalho com amigos e que a experiência de estar em frente às câmeras seria no mínimo divertida”, conta. Paolo Fraga, por sua vez, diz ter tirado inspiração da obra de Dr. Hunter Thompson (autor de Medo e Delírio em Las Vegas): “O pai do jornalismo Gonzo faz essa crítica sádica ao que nos tornamos e o que se tornaram nossos sonhos. Além disso, o personagem é a parte de mim que transborda”. Sobre o resultado, ele completa: “Este é um trabalho de união. Cada um trabalhou com o melhor de suas qualidades, fazendo questão também de deixar claros e explícitos os piores defeitos”.
